Kings of Leon Star Jared Followill has recently popped the question to his now Fiancé Martha Patterson. Followill dropped to one knee with a four-carat cushion-cut diamond engagement ring set on a diamond-covered band! Jared was involved in the designing of the exquisite ring, which Martha has been showing off since they broke the news on Twitter.

Jared is the last of the band members to settle down, and the couple have stated that they will be splitting their time between Jared’s hometown of Nashville & L.A.

Every girl wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day; but some of them are already royalty when they walk down the aisle! The most renowned royal wedding gowns have grabbed the attention of the world for years and young girls want wedding gowns just like the ones worn on royal weddings across the world.

Princess Diana

Any list of royal wedding gowns will undoubtedly feature Princess Diana’s wedding dress. Her marriage to Prince Charles was the biggest royal wedding ever and the dress that Diana wore for the wedding was just as “big”. The gown featured a delicate bodice and a ruffled collar complete with a 25 foot train. It had long puffed sleeves and crinoline tulle just under the skirt. Diana’s wedding gown created a furor in the fashion world in 1980′s but this gown could not stand the test of time some would say.

Duchess of Cambridge Kate

When Catherine Middleton was about to get out of the Rolls Royce Phantom along with her father Michael Middleton just outside the Westminster Abbey, the world waited with bated breath. And when she emerged out of the car, she immediately made way into history with one of the best royal gowns ever. Kate’s wedding gown was a classic, designed by Steve McQueen. The haute couture wedding gown reflected the personal style of Kate. The bodice and skirt had lace appliqué and hand cut French Chantilly lace and English lace was used all over the gown. The gown was made with white satin gazar and ivory and the train was 2 meters 70 centimeters.

Princess Grace Kelly

American actress Grace Kelly’s wedding to Price Rainier of Monaco in Monte Carlo in the year 1956 was an affair that dreams are made of. Grace Kelly’s wedding gown was designed by Helen Rose, the designer who dressed her in The Swan and High Society. Grace Kelly’s wedding gown was made with antique Valenciennes rose point lace, tulle and silk taffeta. The veil was made up with appliquéd lace and numerous seed pearls. The gown itself was a gift to her from the MGM wardrobe department with whom she had a contract.

Princess Victoria

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden exchanged vows with personal trainer Daniel Westling in the biggest royal wedding since Charles wed Diana and her wedding gown was simply stunning. Princess Victoria wore an off shoulder satin gown which is likely to stand the test of time. The wedding gown was made with cream-colored duchess silk satin and had a turned out collar, short sleeves and rounded neckline. There was a sash at the waist which was buttoned at the back and had a bordered train which was nearly five meters long.

Princess Mary

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark looked beautiful in her amazing ivory gown designed by Danish designer Uffe Frank. The wedding gown was classy and the simple scoop neckline stole the show. Another attraction of the wedding gown was the beautiful pleats at the bottom of the dress.

Other royal wedding gowns that wowed the world were the wedding gowns of Crown Princess Masako of Japan, Princess Maxima of Netherlands, Princess Letizia of Asturias, Queen Elizabeth and the Princess Sophie Rhys-Jones.

Brad Pitt has finally popped the question to his long time partner Angelina Jolie! Jolie debuted an engagement ring, designed by Robert Procop, on Wednesday night the week before last at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Brad worked closely with acclaimed Jeweler Robert Procop on the rings design for over a year throughout the entire process from selecting the right stone for the elongated tablet style ring to it’s mounting with a substantial amount of smaller stones faceted to match! This engagement is not out of the blue as the couple have hinted that their children have been looking for their parents to make their union official for some time!

I wonder when Rita Talty from New Jersey entered the Rose of Tralee back in 2008 did she think she would meet the love of her life in the form of one of the judges! Whether it was her talent on stage or off, Daithi O’Sé certainly took a shine to the gorgeous Rita and in what must be one of the Rose of Tralee success stories, they announced their engagement this year.

Romantic to a fault, Daithi and Rita will have their wedding reception back in Tralee where they first met – in the hotel that hosts the famous festival, the Carlton Hotel Tralee on 12th July next year.

Daithi speaking about the venue said, “We picked the Carlton for a few reasons one of them being it was where we first met and after where our relationship blossomed, we feel a real connection with the place“. .
“We know the people there really well with their association with the Festival so we can trust them, they are pulling out all the stops for us” added the broadcaster, who already has “a few surprises” in store for guests.

Despite a viral internet petition to have our Sesame Street Favorites Bert and Erine finally marry after 40 years of living together, the Seasme Street team have come out and put the notion to bed claiming that they cannot marry as they are only “Asexual Puppets”.

Here at WeddingDates we are devastated with this news, but if these two Muppets decide to break the mould they could travel overseas and get hitched here in Ireland at one of our many Gay Friendly Wedding Venues!

Today is the day that the world has waited for…the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton or as they will be known from now on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I watched the whole thing live and was posting pics to the WeddingDates Facebook Page and chatting on Twitter to fellow #royalwedding watchers.

This really was a fairytale wedding and I think so many of us got caught up in the story. Here are the happy couple on the balcony of Buckingham Palace just after the kiss that millions tuned in to watch. Wishing them all the best in the world for their future happiness from WeddingDates.ie! xx
