Keep The Party Going! Your Day After Celebration Guide

We all know the motto when it comes to Irish weddings. Go hard or go home – and most guests are only dying to keep the celebrations going until the day after…

It’s a common complaint that your actual wedding day goes too fast. Before you drive off into the sunset, a day after wedding party will be the perfect opportunity for you to catch up and debrief on the previous night’s antics with friends, family and out-of-town guests.

Atmosphere

Deciding the style of your day after celebrations will be the main factor in your planning. Once you have settled on the atmosphere, you can then go about sourcing a suitable venue and everything else will fall into place.

Are you hoping to enjoy an intimate sit-down brunch or evening meal with those closest to you? Or maybe you fancy another night dancing until the wee hours after a barbecue and evening of entertainment with all of your guests? Are you opting for an open bar? Take into consideration your budget when making your final decision.

Location

It is all about convenience when it comes to location. Don’t forget, you will have barely slept a wink and your energy will be fueled by the previous day’s excitement. A trek from your wedding venue will be a big no-no, especially for some guests who may not be fit for a lengthy drive.

Most wedding venues now offer fabulous day after packages at great value. Ask your Wedding Coordinator for details when discussing your wedding plans. Alternatively, we love the idea of a celebration at home sweet home. It will be super comfortable and a rocking house party is always a winner.

If you are planning an impromptu get together at a local bar, be sure to call ahead at least a week in advance. If there are no events taking place on the same day, you may be able to reserve an area free of charge. Ensure there’s appropriate seating for older guests and it’s also wise to ask management if children are allowed in the venue.

Invitation Details

A great option is to add your day after details to the wording on your wedding invitations. This saves you time and will allow your guests to plan ahead by booking overnight accommodation and organising necessary transport.

Let There Be Food

The single most important factor of your day after party (in our opinion anyway). Sure, you’ll need a good spread for the cure! The options are endless, but your choice of spread will mostly come down to the style and atmosphere of the festivities.

A hog roast or barbecue with a host of hearty salads will go down a treat during those warmer summer months. Hiring a food truck has also been an emerging trend for 2016 weddings. If you’re celebrating at home, why not try your hand at a DIY cocktail station or some dainty homemade desserts?

Remember, your day after party doesn’t have to cost the earth! Even if you’re meeting pals for casual drinks down the local, you can’t beat some cocktail sausages and chicken goujons.

Finally…Dress To Impress

Another excuse to get dolled up! No doubt you’ll have your honeymoon wardrobe packed to the brim with stunning white gúnas. The day after is your chance to show off and get some extra mileage out of your bronzed spray tan and beautifully coiffed hair.
