Stringz Violin Duo

Tell us a bit about yourselves and how you formed Stringz Violin Duo?

Our names are Cian Dwyer (15) and Lauren Dench (16).  We attend music lessons with the same teacher, Teresa Doyle, in North Wexford and we’ve been playing for nine years each and as an ensemble for just over three years now. We both have an interest in performing and what better way to do this than by establishing ourselves as a wedding music ensemble. We play in orchestras in Dublin and Wexford and have competed in competitions in the RDS and Arklow. Our clients include both the Amber Springs and Ashdown Hotel and we have received interest from the Glenview Hotel & Leisure Club and Clayton Whites of Wexford also.

What type of music do you play at weddings?

Well just about anything and everything! We’re classically trained but our genres include pop, jazz, latin, rock and traditional music- our clients choose the specifics.

What can couples expect when they book your services?

The answer to this question is very straight forward; they can expect a vibrant ensemble playing upbeat music to a high standard. Stringz brings a unique performance style to your wedding day.

How do you help couples to select their ceremony music?

Selecting music for ceremonies can be a tedious task for couples, that’s why once you confirm your booking, we go about sourcing the music that’s the right fit for your special day. We make sure to include any specific requests that the couple may have.

What is your favourite song to perform?

That’s a tough choice as there are so many crowd pleasers in our repertoire! I think our favourites are Don’t Stop Believin and Loves Greeting. Those two are from completely different genres and each really gets high praise from brides and grooms.

Talk us through your usual preparations in the run-up to a wedding?

Communication is key in the weeks and days leading up to a wedding. Our couples always come first, so we have to confirm the repertoire and the venue for the duration of the ceremony. Other than that its practice, practice, practice making sure the repertoire is up to scratch and ironing out those finer details. It’s all in a day’s work for a string ensemble!
