We had loads of entries into last months competition to win your wedding photography – people wrote in telling us their real life proposal stories. This one NEARLY made the cut and Charlene has kindly allowed us to share it with you all here on the blog. Great story!

Hi Wedding Dates, My partner proposed on the 30th of December 2010 and we have booked our wedding for the 30th of August 2012 in the Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford.

The following is our story: For years I have wanted to see the Northern Lights in person. I have always found them fascinating so we decided to book a holiday to Iceland where visiting them would be the highlight. As charity workers, affording a holiday to Iceland was a big deal so we had planned everything down to the last detail.

When we arrived in Iceland we were straight off the plane and onto the tour which brought us out into the Icelandic countryside to get the best view. We were on the tour for hours and no Northern Lights were appearing. Alan was getting quieter and quiter during the tour but kept blaming it on the hunger as we had not eaten for hours. I however kept complimenting the tour guide as I felt that he was making a huge effort to make sure that we found the lights.

Eventually however he gave up and brought us back to our hotel. The next morning we were taking a tour that would bring us to a glacier where we would go snow mobiling. The drive out to the glacier was trecherous and at one stage I was extremely afraid so I turned to Alan and jokingly asked him if he would marry me if we made it back alive. He just smiled and said that we would be fine!

We finally reached the point where we would start the snow mobiles and after half an hour we arrived at a cliff with caves made of ice. There was snow and mountains for as far as we could see and it was amazing!! Alan asked a couple who were also on the tour if they could take a picture. As I was about to take my helmet off I turned to see Alan down on one knee. I thought he had slipped in the snow and laughed at him, telling him to get up. Then I saw the ring and he shouted through the wind “Will you marry me?”. I was absolutely dumnstruck and couldn’t speak for ages.

When we arrived back at the hotel Alan told the receptionist and she laughed saying that everyone in Iceland knew at this stage as Alan had called ahead to talk to all of the tour operators and find out the best places to propose. Alan had champagne ready for when we arrived back at the hotel and happily told anyone who would listen about the proposal for the rest of the holiday!!

Winner of Johannes Photography Competition!

Myself and Johannes from Johannes Photography, spent the morning reviewing all of the entries to this amazing competition and boy was there some pretty great stories in there!

It was so tough to pick a winner, but I think you’ll agree with the effort that she put into it…..Susan Burns is a deserving winner of this fantastic prize! Congrats to Susan and Ray and we’ll look forward with interest to see what incredible photos Johannes gets with this couple. Read her proposal story entry, which comprised of a full rhyming poem!

You said “What about it”

I said “What about what”

“Marriage and all that”

I didn’t look up in case you weren’t sincere

Because you are everything I hold dear

“Well” you said

I lifted my head

We looked at each other

Our smiles you couldn’t smother

I don’t think either of us actually ever did propose

Things just happened I suppose

It was just decided there and then

Now we’ve chose the place and when

Being a recession

We just had a session

The ring has to wait

More important that we get our date

Deposits are paid on music and venue

Were still deciding on the menu

I know a surprise you’ll spring

When I do get that ring

We’re both over forty

And oh so flirty

Wouldn’t it be such a laugh

To not have to pay for a photograph

Just a reminder for anyone who’s lonely

He or she is out there looking for you only

We’ve found love, we fit like a glove

So remember it’s never to late to meet your soul mate

Ray loads of hugs ‘n kisses

Can’t wait to be your missus

Inventive, you have to give him that! He must have been pretty sure she would say yes…otherwise he’d have to move off the street!

Sshhh…can you hear the sound of hearts breaking around the world?!

I thought you just hadn't met me yet, Michael?!

Michael Buble has just announced his engagement to Argentinian Actress, Luisana Lorely Lopilato de la Torre. He proposed to her back in November with a wedding ring he helped design, in front of her family when they were visiting Argentina. Luisana stared with Michael in the video to his latest single, “I Just Haven’t Met You Yet”. Seems that’s not true, eh Michael?! Check out their chemistry in the video…. *drool*

Bad Boy and Girl get engaged!

The bad-girl of pop Katy Perry and legendary ladies-man Russell Brand have gotten engaged in India while on holiday there over New Years. Katy posted this pic on her twitter account with the message; “he built this for me”

The trip was Brand’s surprise Christmas gift to Perry who expressed her interest in Indian culture while eating a curry together in London.

Like most of us, I love catching up on the celebrity goss, and get my fix from Celebrity Bride Guide. They have a pic of the Engagement Ring which I think looks quite classy and understated for the dramatic duo!
