A reader writes:

I thought you’d want to know that three months after attending a June wedding which required a new dress, a 200km drive, two nights in a hotel, and a gift that cost my boyfriend and I €150, we finally got a thank you note from the bride. ON FACEBOOK. Can you believe it? Needless to say, this couple is dead to me. DEAD, I tell you!

Brrrrr!! Slipped and slided my way into work this morning, braving the elements but spare a thought for the brides out there getting married in this unprecedented snow & ice?! An article in the Irish Independent today told the story of Maria Tierney and Ollie Finnegan who had to overcame snow, icy roads and transport problems yesterday to tie the knot in idyllic winter wonderland surroundings at Faithlegg House Hotel in Waterford

Fix-It-Friday on the Ray Darcy Show on Today FM this morning was given over to brides stressed about how they will even get to their wedding venue let alone their guests! 4X4′s were requested and councils were contacted to grit regional roads.

The country is in chaos!! But, oh doesn’t it look just BEAUTIFUL?!?! Picture perfect, and if the happy couples out there can brave the cold, the photos will be spectacular with a blanket of white.

For the rest of us, tucked up inside in the warm – there’s no better choon this morning!

Couples mocked at their own wedding?!

A news story just broke this week about a couple who got married in a traditional ceremony in the Maldives in a resort hotel. The couple, who were westerners didn’t understand what the celebrant was saying – he was actually mocking them and saying that it was not a recognised marriage!

To Rome in a Starlet

Europe may still be a no fly zone, courtesy of that infamous Icelandic volcano, but that hasn’t stopped a couple of petrol-heads from Octane.ie, who have decided to travel across Europe by land and sea to make it to a church in Rome on Friday for their Best Friends’ Wedding. And doing all that in a 1996 Toyota Starlet no less!

With an itinerary that wouldn’t look out of place in a Gumball run, they hope to make it to Italy by Friday in time for the wedding.

The Route is:-

Dublin – Rosslare 2hours
Rosslare – Holyhead 3 hours
Holyhead – Dover 7 hours
Dover – Boulogne 1 3/4 hours
Boulogne – Rome 17 1/2 hours

And through the joys of the interwebs, we can all follow their journey with interest on Twitter!

What will the Americans come up with next?! For the adrenaline junkie couples out there not content with a traditional walk down the aisle, now you can get married on a rollercoaster!! The home of the Little White Chapel and Elvis weddings, Las Vegas is now offering couples to take the plunge at 67 mph…. plunging down a high speed rollercoaster!! The New York New York Hotel on the infamous Las Vegas strip is probably the most exhilarating venue any couple could imagine!

A Morning ceremony will cost you a mere $600, with the Evening ceremony setting you back $700, both prices including minister. But be warned, this is going to be a high speed ceremony in every sense of the word… weddings take place in 15-minute intervals!
