Lough Eske Castle, A Solís Hotel & Spa, Donegal

My wife and I had our wedding at Lough Eske Castle last month, and it could not have been better. Everything was absolutely perfect, every minor detail was catered for by the wonderful staff. We would not have changed a thing. It was the perfect occasion, and a day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Mary-Jo & Benjamin

We had our wedding at Lough Eske Castle on the 25th Nov 2011. We can't speak highly enough of the place. Our guests told us that they had never experienced hospitality like it. We have heard some of the stories and examples of things the staff did and we were blown away. The food went down brilliantly. The wedding Co-ordinator (Noreen) was extremely helpful, professional and great to work with. We are so glad we decided to have our wedding here and would give it 10 out of 10. We cannot describe in words how brilliant Lough Eske Castle is for a wedding, but will try........Our friends recommended the venue to us as we were keen to get married in Ireland but weren't that familiar with Donegal. From the moment we arrived to have a look round we were both completely overwhelmed by the castle, the setting and most of all the staff. The whole set up is simply outstanding! We have been lucky enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world but Lough Eske Castle is a notch above. The professionalism of the actual wedding arrangements were faultless, the food was simply superb and the dining room was stunning. The castle itself is absolute luxury and we don't think there can be a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in any hotel in the world. Everything went according to plan on the day and we have had VERY positive feedback from all of our guests without exception. The bedrooms are stunning and we have not been in a better spa. Most importantly of all, the staff are all brilliant. From bar staff to gardeners, we found everyone very friendly, professional and nothing was ever too much trouble. They made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived and seemed to do everything they could to contribute to the success of our wedding. They also tolerated a degree of roudy behaviour which was much appreciated and contributed to a great party! Finally, special mention to Noreen who was our actual wedding organiser. We could not have asked for a more delightful, helpful, easy-going, friendly and professional person to ensure eveything went smoothly from start to finish. Well what can we say; our wedding at Lough Eske was simply outstanding. We do not have one complaint to make. We travelled from Co.Down to Donegal after our Wedding Mass in torrential rain, along with 160 guests...Lough Eske definitely needed to pull out all the stops for our guests considering the journey - and they did not fail!! Not only did Lough Eske bring the weather :) (it stopped raining literally as we arrived), but the service, food, and rooms were top notch - we travelled around Asia on our honeymoon in 5* hotels and not one could match the service in Lough Eske. Our guests ended up having more photos of the venue and their rooms than they did of the Bride! and those that had booked B&B's soon lived to regret it! From the moment we arrived, I felt like a princess. The staff did everything in their power to ensure we were treated like royalty. The food was amazing - definitely worth the journey!..the best I have ever experienced at a wedding (which is great for a Bride on her wedding day). - I would say some hotels have found it difficult to present food like it in their restaurant, never mind for a banquet occasion. It wasn't just the things which Lough Eske was being paid to do which left a lifelong memory and outstanding impression, but the extra touches. Our Best Man and another guest overslept breakfast the next day (too good a time partying) and a waiter overheard their conversation about going into Donegal Town for Breakfast instead - without any prompting, the waiter asked if they would like to take a seat in the bar and he would bring them whatever they wanted for breakfast...unheard of in any other hotel! My sister and her husband found the hotel so relaxing, they literally spent the whole of the next day in the Red Room beside the Turf Fire, and as always the staff stoking the fire where polite and friendly - not crossing the fine line between friendly / polite and pestering. The night after our wedding we ate dinner in the Dining Room (approx 25 of us), Lough Eske had set our Wedding Bouquets in the centre of each table and printed bespoke menus just for us, with our names etc. My husband and I also got a surprise desert presented to us with 'Congratulations on your wedding' wrote on it. It was all these lovely little touches which made not only our day, but our entire stay at Lough Eske unforgettable. Other guests and close family members were overwhelmed by the treatment my husband and I received - particularly as Lough Eske had no real reason to care anymore - the wedding was over and paid for. I would never wish to have my wedding anywhere else and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing - Lough Eske proved why they have won The World’s Best Luxury Country Hotel over and over again during our Wedding Weekend.

We had the most amazing wedding day at Lough Eske Castle in July 2011. The friendly staff couldn't do enough for us to help make our day so perfect. A special mention goes to Marleen Fullois, our wedding co-ordinator, who communicated so well with us from the beginning, during the planning and the day itself. She did everything to meet our needs and made herself available to discuss anything with us. We planned our wedding across the sea from England, and our guests couldn't believe the fantastic hospitality we received. The venue is stunning and the grounds to the castle is picturesque. We had a real fairytale day, it was like a dream come true! Thank you once again to the lovely staff at this beautiful hotel. We hope to be visiting again very soon to re-live our memories, in what is now our favourite place. Ciara & Neil Emery.
