Sheer Elegance: Trevor + Zhanar At Maryborough Hotel

Love holds no barriers…

Even though the bride’s family aren’t fluent in English, love found a way on their very special day. Precious moments such as the wedding speeches were translated and the father-of-the-bride’s touching speech in the Kazakh language was converted by her sister for their Irish guests.

After years of working abroad and enjoying exotic travels together, Trevor and Zhanar decided to return to the Emerald Isle for their fairytale wedding surrounded by family and friends.

Zhanar’s understated high-neck ball gown with delicately embellished waist, perfectly mirrored the sophistication of their venue. Her sheer elegance most certainly stole the show for us here at WeddingDates HQ.

The Beginning…

“I am originally from Donoughmore in Co Cork and my wife is from Aktau city in Kazakhstan. We first met in February 2012 as I worked in the oil and gas industry there at the time. We were introduced by Zhanar’s sister who I worked with offshore. Zhanar then came to work offshore too – and our relationship really kicked off from there. Compliments to my wife, when we first met, her English was not the best. But now she speaks it almost better then me. We have had some wonderful years together. We both worked 28 days on and 28 days off, so we traveled to various countries for our month off together. Our relationship and friendship has been a lot of fun!”

The Proposal…

“We went to Oludeniz in Turkey for a two week holiday in June 2015. A work colleague had recommended Oludeniz and it really was a stunning place. I just couldn’t resist asking Zhanar to marry me, as she looked so beautiful that particular night. I didn’t get down one knee though! I just asked her to make me the happiest man by becoming my wife.”

On The Venue…

“It was my mother and sister who told us to check out Maryborough Hotel & Spa. When we spoke with the Wedding Coordinator, Melanie O Sullivan, we just didn’t need to look any further. We were very impressed with how professional Melanie was and the venue was exactly what we were looking for.”

“I cannot say one bad thing about Maryborough House. The Orangery, where we had the ceremony was just amazing. It was more than we ever expected, it was something really special. All of our guests were full of compliments. The room where we held our reception was beautifully laid out. The hotel had renovations done recently and the lighting was just superb. The food was five-star. The hotel management and staff were top class also. Our wedding day was really something we will never forget.”

On The Photographer…

Ted Murphy, for me, gets 10 out of 10. He made the process so easy. Unfortunately, it rained heavily on the day of our wedding, but Ted didn’t make us panic. He simply used all the rooms and tools at his disposal to give us the wedding pictures we had hoped for. My wife is big into her photography and when she was happy with the pictures, then I knew he had done a great job. We can’t thank him enough as photographs are a very important part of your wedding day.”

Funny Moments…

“Normally the Best Man is supposed to embarrass the groom. But on this particular occasion, I think that my father and myself actually embarrassed my brother who was my Best Man! We had a good laugh throughout the day as my brother dropped Zhanar’s ring when handing it over to me during the ceremony!”

A huge thank you to Trevor & Zhanar for sharing their magical wedding at Maryborough House Hotel & Spa with us and to their photographer Ted Murphy for allowing us to publish these pictures. You can see more of his work at www.tedmurphy.ie
