Ghan House is an 18th century country Georgian house set in private, walled grounds for exclusive use. Up to 54 guests or 34 on one long table - in the drawing room or up to 18 guests in the Ground Floor Dining room. The ballroom has wall to wall maple dance floor. For smaller intimate weddings where dancing is not required - Private Dining is possible - for 2 to 54 guests. Civil Ceremonies in Ghan House for 50 guests in front of the log fire or the adjacent Heritage Centre for 110. Up to 110 guests can enjoy an outdoor champagne reception in private walled grounds with views of the mountains - with log fires and candlelight awaiting inside. 1 hour from Dublin & Belfast and just a tree length from Medieval Carlingford.

Ghan House is just an hours drive from Dublin and Belfast with views of Carlingford Lough , Slieve Foy mountain & The mountains of Mourne.
The unique aspect of Ghan House is that you can have exclusive use of the whole house & gardens ~ which means, no other guests apart from your own! We have beautiful views of Slieve Foy, the Mountains of Mourne & Carlingford Lough - from the gardens, all the public rooms & bedrooms. In addition we have 8 ft high stone walls enclosing the gardens, adding to the privacy & uniqueness.

Our head chef Stephane was awarded "Best Chef 2015 & 2019", we also won 'Best Hotel & Country House Restaurant in County Louth' - for 3 continuous years ~ The Restaurant Association of Ireland and have been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for the restaurant 2011 - 2020. In addition Ghan House was the National winners of the AA 'Guest Accommodation of the Year 2020'.
The bedrooms have been selected by John & Sally McKenna's Bridgestone Guide - 'Best 100 Places to stay in Ireland' for 22 continuous years from 1998 to 2020 and we were named "Gourmet Getaway of the Year 2019" & "Fine Dining Hotel of the Year 2019" at the Irish Hotel Awards
The Drawing Room holds up to 60 guests and has a fully tuned grand Piano. There are magnificent views of Slieve Foy, Carlingford Lough, the mountains of Mourne and the castellated walled gardens of Ghan House .
The Ghan House alternative to the big hotel function room makes for a very intimate, sociable wedding!
Eco economy - Most of the bedrooms at Ghan House - their heating & hotwater is powered by an air source heat pump. The water from the roofs of the main house all feed into the pond. Kitchen waste is utilised to make compost, plastic, paper, card & glass are all recycyled as is kitchen oil. The gas used for cooking & in the laundry for drying is BioLPG - which is 100% renewable - we pay more for it, but we think it's worth it!
