was absolutely amazing. Mary, Enda and the staff couldn't have done more to ensure that we had the best day ever, which we absolutely did! The wedding packages are fantastic value and the food and service was something else. The function room is just stunning, everyone commented on it. Special thanks to Breda and Sharon for their help in booking all the rooms, liaising with us and reassuring us throughout lockdown.

Mary - you were such a pleasure to deal with and we knew that our wedding would be in good hands from our first meeting. Thank you to yourself and Enda for not only ensuring our day ran smoothly but for really going above and beyond!

Although our wedding wasn't the day or date we originally planned, it was still every bit as magical. The Van Gogh suite is just stunning, and especially in the times we find ourselves in, its space and its recently renovated interior still creates the most gorgeous setting. It also has its own private reception area which was always on my must list - particularly suited to COVID times. The room, the hotel garden and the stunning Cathedral across the road mean you won't be short of amazing photo opportunities

We recently had our wedding in the Hillgrove Hotel, which we had been planning for nearly 3 years. So when Covid happened, like many brides and grooms, myself and my husband started to get anxious about all that was going on. to 50 was really hard but Mary worked with us throughout. She reassured us continuously that we would have the most amazing day!

And, that is exactly what we had!

We honestly couldn't have asked for anything better. Mary and Enda, on the day, couldn't have done enough for us. They were brilliant and such lovely people. The service and food was first class. Our quests keep talking about how beautiful the food was. I never once felt like our wedding was small. We had our family and a handful of friends and I wouldn't change it for the world. ❤️

The ballroom we chose for both our ceremony and reception was just newly refurbished to a high standard with its own entrance and drinks reception area, extremely handy for us as we decided to go ahead in the middle of a pandemic. Both myself and my husband and all our guests felt the hotel took all the necessary steps to keep us safe and protected. Our day was just dreamy! was too much trouble for the staff, all our needs were expertly looked after, and the quality of the rooms, the decor, the foyer, the wedding reception rooms etc., was all superb.
On the day of the wedding itself, we were expertly managed by the experienced staff, and the food and service were top notch.

There was not one complaint from any of our guests (240 people),so we are delighted with the hotel, and are totally comfortable with recommending it to other couples who are looking for a great wedding venue.

My guests never stopped talking about the amount of bubbly,beer and food on arrival and it all tasted amazing, even the selection of food for my coeliac relatives they were amazed!! Then the dinner unbelievable the food was out of this world as always and yet again my guests couldn't get over how wonderful everything was and the amount of seconds.... The whole hotel, staff, food even the decor (what made me love the hotel) is simply amazing everything was completed to perfection exactly how I wanted our special day to go!!!

them and expert opinion when we asked for it. We felt like we were the only people ever to get married as we were treated so well - at no point did we feel as though we were just a number which was the thing we noticed the most!

On the day it was very laid back which is exactly what we wanted. The food was delicious and the staff treated everyone like they knew them! We stayed with the Hillgrove for two nights and genuinely did not want to leave on Monday morning.

My only issue is that I want to do it all over again! :) Thank you so much to Mary, Enda and all in the Hillgrove - you truly made our day completely spectacular and unforgettable.

Soup, Caesar salad, roast beef (which a guest thought was a steak lol) or turkey, ham and stuffing. It’s the nicest food I’ve ever had at a wedding! The mint aero cheese cake was lovely for dessert too! Enda hosted our wedding and he had a warm and caring way with all guests. His good sense of humour helped keep us relaxed. my wedding planning experience quite relaxed and never once did I panic about anything in relation to the venue! Mary had everything covered which made our day run so smoothly!! I could not recommend Mary & her team highly enough as wedding coordinators for you big day! In the venue itself we used the Rembrandt Suite for our wedding ceremony and the Van Gough Suite for the reception. Both were decorated impeccably - we could not have been happier with the layout of the rooms, the decorations and the ambience as a whole was amazing!! The food was delicious, we heard nothing but good reports about the food and everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals! The staff were second to none! We had quite a big wedding with 194 guests and throughout the food service and evening buffet the staff were fantastic, they were friendly, approachable and efficient!! We were the first wedding to be photographed in the new wedding gardens and we are delighted with our photographs! Brilliant to have such a nice spot right outside the hotel so you don't have to go away to get photos taken and end up missing out on more of the big day.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hillgrove to any engaged couples as the quality of service from all of the hotel staff we got was phenomenal, our special day went off without a hitch and we are still getting comments from guests of it being "the best wedding they have been at", our delicious wedding meal is still getting talked about too! Every one of our guests have commented on the food by saying that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. There was lots of choice for everyone, the vegetarian guests loved their choice of options. The kids were really happy with their food. The layout of the room was just beautiful. All we had to do was show up on the day and everything else was taken care of.

The leading up to the wedding went so smoothly, Linda kept in regular contact with us and nothing was a bother to them.

Our honeymoon Suite was absolutely beautiful, I didn't want to leave it. I would highly recommend any future couples to book the beautiful Hillgrove as their wedding venue. Thanks so much to Linda and all of the staff for the best day ever!

She is a beautiful person and was the creator of our magical day we couldnt thank her enough. She went above and beyond her means to help us and make our day 100% perfect. She is a credit to the hillgrove and most definatly the best most reliable person ever.she sat up all our props in the room including all disney figures lights etc as well as host our wedding on the day like a true fairy godmother...she is even a friend now on facebook......the whole staff team at the hillgrove are unbelievable from the cleaners to the reception staff to the bar staff to the security and beyond....a truely magical place that we cant wait to get back too soon...all our families are still talking about our wedding and the hillgrove and are hopefully booking a stay very soon...AMAZING PLACE

We cannot thank Monique, Linda and staff enough. They are excellent and thoroughly dedicated to their work. Our day went perfectly. Every last detail was attended to. You would not need to employ a private wedding planner when you have Linda on the case! She thought of everything and kept us right the whole way through the planning process.
Our guests are still talking about the food and service. They say it is the best food they have ever tasted at a wedding. Having tasted the food at the menu tasting evening and then on the big day itself, we wholeheartedly agree with this. The service was first class. There were staff allocated to serve each table. This meant that all the guests were eating at the same time. It is a pet hate of mine when this does not happen at a wedding. It is even worse when you are sitting with your dinner in front of you and then you have to wait ten minutes on the gravy coming. We were happy to see that such sacrilege would not happen at the Hillgrove hotel! A friend of ours is regularly disappointed when this happens and is sure to complain afterwards. Imagine his delight when he received his gravy and his dinner promptly. It made his day!
Anyway, I could continue on for another page, but I think you get the picture! We recommend this hotel to future brides and grooms. You will not be disappointed! Stephen and Stacey Coary.

We had our meal in the da Vinci suite and it was stunning.
Our guests complimented our wedding on how the day was so relaxed and enjoyable.
There was another wedding on in the hotel the same days as ours but we never even bumped into the other wedding party ( not until we went to the residents bar).
The rooms are a good size and the beds are so comfortable, especially the bridal suite, it was beautiful.
I really couldn't recommend the Magestical Hillgrove Hotel highly enough. It's a stunning venue for a wedding reception.

We got married in the Hillgrove on the 11th of July 2015. The reason why we have taken so long with this review is because we couldn't think of the exact words to tell how amazing the Hillgrove is and we were worried that our words wouldn't give the hotel, staff and owners the justice they all …

deserve.

It started off in May 2013 when we first went and visited the Hillgrove and met the fantastic Kimberley. Kimberley sat us down, gave us all of the details about the hotel and the different packages that were available. Everything sounded amazing and we had to ask her 'what is the catch?' The prices and packages were so reasonably priced that we had to ask it. But we can tell anyone who is looking to celebrate their big day at the Hillgrove, the hotel and staff will exceed your expectations and there definitely is no catch.

So for he next two years we happily made the hour journey to the Hillgrove to start arranging our wedding reception. We actually enjoyed going down and we were always looking forward to seeing Kimberley, sorting out the wedding and having a good natter. We also treated ourselves a few times to the bar food and we knew that as the bar food was so good, we knew our wedding meal would be amazing (we both love our grub).

Speed up to two years later and it was two weeks before the wedding and we found out that Kimberley was unable to compare our reception and that we would have to come down and meet Linda as she would be replacing her on the day. I'm not going to lie we were a little apprehensive as we had felt we had bonded with Kimberley over the previous two years, but oh my goodness we had absolutely no need to. Linda was amazing and went above and beyond her duty on the day and the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding, she was even pinning up my dress at one point. Even though Kimberley was flat out on the day she still had time to come and wish us well on the day.

On the day itself, the reception couldn't have been any smoother. The attention to detail was second to none. The waiters and waitresses were fab and there was special attention paid to my grandfather who needed his food cut up fine, my brothers girlfriend who is celiac and a friend of ours who has a nut allergy. The food was equally amazing, I would like to say a massive thank you to the chefs on the day for their hard work, so many people said to me on the day and after how good the food was and they said the baked Alaska was like none they have had before and it was beautiful.

It is safe to say that we would do it all over again and we wouldn't change a thing and a massive reason for this is how fantastic The Hillgrove were to us. If you are thinking about having The Hillgrove as your wedding reception you will NOT regret it, we certainly didn't.

All our love to Kimberley, Linda and all of the amazing staff. And also to Colm and Audri for letting us celebrate our big day at your hotel. Thank you all so much.

actually arrived half an hour early at the hotel! Kimberley was amazing and made sure our big day was perfect! Everyone at our wedding commented on how much they enjoyed it and the food was a massive hit with everyone! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hillgrove, we are so incredibly pleased we chose it for our wedding day.

The one tiny problem I had (and this is being very pinickity) was that I had wanted to get my hair done the next morning after the wedding. Kimberley had advised that I contact the hairdresser in the hotel to organise. I rang the salon several times and left messages in the weeks before the wedding but the hairdresser has still never got back to me (the wedding was in July and this is now October). I was disappointed by that as everything else about the Hillgrove was so outstanding, but I wouldn't let that put me off going back.

I hope other brides and grooms reading this decide to pick the Hillgrove Hotel, Kimberley and the other staff created such a relaxed atmosphere for us and everything went so well, I'm sure your big day will be just as magical as ours was!

and go through everything in detail. There was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to have our reception here. During the whole lead up to the wedding Linda was on hand to answer any questions, there was nothing too big or too small to ask her. She went through everything in fine detail and made sure we were always 110% happy with everything.
When we arrived to the hotel the day of the wedding I was taken back by the look of the reception room, it was like something from a fairytale, I was totally blown away with how beautiful and stunning it looked. Our guests were totally impressed. Then it came to the meal and things just seemed to get better. The food was fabulous, it was warm, tasty and the presentation was first class. There was no guests left waiting on food, the service was the best I have ever seen. Our guests were asked on a few different occasions if everything was ok and if they required anything else, they even got offered second servings of meat and veg for the main course.
Your wedding day is the most special day in your life and you want it to be perfect. With Linda and her team in the hillgrove hotel we got that. From entering the grounds of the hillgrove you know you are entering somewhere spectacular.

Linda and indeed all staff members were on call 24/7 to answer any questions that we had no matter what time of the night I contacted them!!! Everyone was fantastic in the organising of our big day no stone was left unturned! The Hillgrove were more than accommodating in sorting any requests I had including organising many rooms for our guests!
On the big day out suite was done to perfection I could not have faulted it, the attention to detail was unreal. Our travelling guests were absolutely stunned by the fabulous venue and it's facilities with many planning another trip to Monaghan in the near future!!
During the meal every table had it's own server, no guest was left dry as the wine was continuously poured and as for the food it's was flawless. We went for the vol au vents, sorbet, turkey and ham, roast beef and pavlova and I honestly could not fault any part of our menu. The food service was excellent with prompt delivery to all tables.
All our guests spoke highly of the Hillgrove, it's service and food. Any families that travelled could not belief the facilities that were available to kids.
I can not thank Linda and the Hillgrove hotel for the special role it played to making out wedding day truly the best day of our lives! planner the way Kimberly took care of everything. She is unreal and took such good care of us on the day and in the lead up to our wedding. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was amazing our guests couldn't have praised it any more highly and the staff are excellent. Very professional and really looked after our guests. Kimberly and her team especially Nicola who helped us with menus and other bits and pieces go beyond their call of duty and make each couple feel so special. still have our guest saying it was the best wedding dinner they ever had... the whole day went like clock work, the timing throughout the day was perfect.
We had the 'wedding package' and I have to say it was the best thing ever, it took the stress and pressure out of the planning. We choose Laverty photography and he was a pleasure to work with.
We are so delighted we picked the Hillgrove for our wedding and would recommend it to any couple getting married.

We had our wedding day in March 2014 in the Da Vinci Suite and it was truly the most amazing day ever. The staff were totally amazing from start to finish.

there was brilliant contact. We always felt looked after and like we didn't need to worry as she has it all under control.
Our day itself was just magical, Linda in particular was just the best you could wish for...she looked after all the quests especially the bridal party and when I had a problem with my dress and she was walking out the door with her handbag to go home for the night, she came back in and helped me with the dress. I sincerely thank her for that. x
The bar staff were friendly & always looked happy which again added to our special day. The dinner is still being commented on by guests. I was nervous as we were going with steak as well as turkey and ham. I know people like their steak cooked different ways, hence the nerves, but I had no need to worry. Even though guests weren't asked how they would like their steak done, everyone loved it. It was the best steak I have had out. Some people even had second dinners!
The service was military. Once Linda confirmed we were happy and that everyone at the top table was finished, one wave of her hand, and the waiting staff moved to clear the guests' tables. It was amazing to watch. There was always a member of the waiting staff beside each table throughout the whole dinner in case a guest wanted anything.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite as part of the wedding package & it was amazing!!!! The breakfast the next morning was well presented and the girl who delivered the breakfast was so friendly.
The front of the hotel has recently been done up. It was supposed to be ready for us but there was a delay in works. We didn't really mind because because the hotel was lovely as it was but the next day Linda arrived into the lounge and gave us a voucher for a night's stay with breakfast and an evening meal in the hotel to apologise the front of the hotel not being ready for us. We weren't expecting it at all and were very touched that they thought of it.
I would just like to say that I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to get married & the staff here really work hard to make your day the best they possibly can. It's lovely to get married in a place where everyone genuinely seems happy to be part of your special day and this showed all the way through. We have had so many family members and friends tell us it was the best wedding they had ever been to & we certainly had one of the best days of our lives.
Keep up the good work guys, I am gutted it's all over!

year 2012 award, there was so much to keep them entertained that I could enjoy my wedding day and not worry too much!!. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the lobby and the rich decor. Kimberly Madden was my contact in the hotel for my wedding. Her attention to detail was superb. From the minute we checked in Kimberly was there to guide us straight away. She made everyone feel at ease and even gave the best man a test run on the microphone in the function room to make sure he knew how to direct his speech, as he was very nervous. Kimberly told us exactly how things were going to go and was with us every step of the way right up until dinner. The serving staff were the most attentive I have ever seen at a wedding. They were lined up ready to clear the dishes away without you even being aware, everything was swift and efficient. The food was gorgeous but being the bride I was too excited to eat very much! But everyone else had clear plates all round. After dinner the room was cleared and cleaned very quick to commence the dancing. I couldn't have asked for a better day. So thanks to all the staff in the Hillgrove Hotel for making our day one of the best....Can't wait to go back and celebrate our anniversary! was our wedding co-ordinator for the day and she was like an angel she took care of everything, I knew from the meetings with Kim we had before the wedding that I could relax when we got to the hotel as she would have all running smoothly, perfectly and professionally. I was not disappointed. The only thing I would change is when ever we arrived back to the hotel from photo's we were back early as we had a very wet day, if the couple arrives back to the hotel earlier than expected I would let the bride and groom mingle with there guests for a few minutes before taking them for more photo's in the hotel. As the only time we got to talk to the guests was when the dancing started. The Honeymoon suite could have been nicer we got the small room which was disappointing for us and we were the only wedding that Saturday. We decided to go with the package that the Hillgrove had. It was truly amazing! Linda was our coordinator and I couldn't compliment her enough. She was excellent. She kept in touch with us and regularly checked in to see how everything was coming along.

On the day of the wedding from moment we stepped out of the car everything went like clock work. We mingled for a while after getting photographs done and then we were into the reception room for dinner. The food was delicious and the service was very good. There was a waiter/waitress assigned to each table which was great. Everything just went so well and myself, Kevin, both our families and our guests had a fantastic day.
It is true to say that it was the best day of our lives. The staff in the Hillgrove cannot do enough for their customers and we have nothing but compliments to say about them.

Thank you for helping to make our day so special. I only wish we could do it all over again.

The high standard and professionalism didn't stop there.They really were like wedding planners, giving us lists of what to do, what should be included in speeches,timings Etc.
Our wedding was even more special because of sickness in our family and they accommodated us in any way possible.
On the day itself we didn't have to worry about one thing, they took care of everything.
I have recently stayed at the hotel and the renovations and new menu is fantastic..Wish I was doing it again:-)
All in all, I recommend The Hillgrove Hotel to anyone who wants a carefree day with great service and fantastic food..
