On May 12th, Will and I got married in Fermoy Co. Cork. We held the reception of our wedding at Garryvoe Hotel. I can safely say that was probably one of the best decisions we ever made. We decided to visit the Garryvoe soon after our engagement as location wise it was ideal for us, given that Will is from Mizen Head, beside the sea was a perfect location for us. As both of us work Monday to Friday, and Will in Wexford, we found that it was difficult to make appointments with most hotels as the event co-ordinators worked Monday to Friday. Fortunately at the Garryvoe Andrzej the wedding Co ordinator was available on Saturdays/sundays for any meetings. This was a big plus for us and also gave us confidence that the person that we would have every meeting regarding the hotel would also be on-site the day of the wedding. Based on our initial meeting, we pretty much made up our mind that we were going to go with the Garryvoe Hotel, size wise it was perfect for the size wedding we were going to have but also the room itself was absolutely beautiful, also the hotel itself looked lovely from the entrance to the unbelievable library bar and hall down to the banquet room. Andrzej also was so warm, welcoming and friendly and gave us confidence in the hotel. All the staff that we met on the day had smiles on their faces and were warm and friendly, exactly the type of people that we wanted to be greeting and looking after our guests on the day of our wedding. Over the few months in advance of our wedding, we had a number of meetings with the hotel, each gave us great confidence in the hotel. We picked our menu and any requests we made such as having a number of servings of the beef to be rare was taken and coeliac options were gladly granted. The day of our wedding arrived and everything was perfect. First of all I will start with the food, it surpassed our expectations. From the chicken starter, soup and the beef and fish main courses to the desserts, it was all lovely. Coming from a family that loves their meat, I can't speak highly enough of the beef, there was a lot of envious looks at the plates of beef that some people ordered including me and it tasted as good as it looked. The portions were great and there was plenty seconds for anyone who wanted it. There was no delays between servings and everyone was served promptly. Both the back of the room and front were served at the same time which was great for our guests. The Banqueting manager had everything under control and again all the servers were prompt, efficient and with smiles on their faces. Once the food was finished, the tables on the dance floor were moved out of the way and the venue was ready for the rest of the night. Once the music was finished, the bar staff and the night manager couldn't be more helpful and made sure that my wife and I were looked after and our requests were granted. All our guests that were staying the night were well looked after and their singing voices did not go thirsty. So many of our guests came up to us the following morning and even since then to compliment the hotel from the food and venue and the appearance of the hotel. Garryvoe Hotel has a lot going for it but definitely for us, it is the staff from Andrzej and Ben to the girls at reception, the food servers and bar staff that are the best selling point of the hotel. They each contributed to making our wedding day the happiest and most memorable day of our lives. We would like to thank all of them. Ellen and will
