It has been over a month since our special day (14 October 2017) and our opinion of the Garryvoe Hotel and the team only continues to grow. Our guests and family who we have spoken to in the last month rave about how impressed they were by the hotel, the setting, the food and the staff. From day one when we met the wedding team they were a joy and a pleasure to work with.

This hotel is made for weddings and the Garryvoe team is the best in the business at them. Stephen Belton, Aiden and in particular Ben who was our wedding manager were brilliant to work it. They gave excellent succinct advice and really looked to make our day perfect. No matter how many meetings or calls we made whatever minor issue was bothering us – the guys always made us feel like they were our priority and would always make time for us and give us ideas. This a family run hotel and you can sense it. They really appreciate business and there is just a lovely atmosphere in this hotel which is created by the staff (whether this be the bar staff, reception, cleaning staff or the night porter). Our day could not have gone any better, however, there was a hiccup at the start of the day when a make-up artist did not show up for the Groom’s family (which had nothing to do with the Hotel). However when Donal mentioned this to Tracy on the front desk she took complete control – rang all her local contacts and managed to get an appointment for us. It is these things which you will notice during your wedding and makes the Garryvoe so special. They really are just such lovely people working in this hotel. A particular mention to Liz (Senior Waitress) who always made you feels at home, Shirley (Head of the Cleaning Staff) who was always there with good luck wishes and Tracy who it was a pleasure to meet and who helped sort the lack of the make-up artist for the Groom’s family!

The Library is an unbelievable setting for pre-dinner drinks overlooking Ballycotton Bay and the Lighthouse. The function room is classy but not over the top. The food well it was just unreal (5 Star quality which was complemented by all our guests). Sometimes at weddings we always get the feeling that the service and food at the top table might not be as good as it is for the guests at the back (all our guests though made a point of complementing it). Nobody goes hungry either with plenty of seconds being provided to all our guests. According to Ruth’s Uncle who travelled home from Australia it was the best food he ever ate at wedding (he is 65!) and we are sure he would not be alone in this view. The drinks at the bar aren’t expensive by hotel standards and the stage for the band and the dance floor were perfect. Our wedding was so special and the Garryvoe and the team played a huge part in this.

Finally on the Monday after our wedding (we had drinks in Ballycotton in the Blackbird Bar on the Sunday (another great venue)) – Storm Orphelia hit. While our wedding was over at this stage, the Hotel could not have been more accommodating for our guests who had to change their travel plans (cut short or lengthen their stays) and really continued to go the extra mile (they made sure we were all secure in the hotel and cut our cake to make sure our guests were well fed while we all waited for the storm to pass!).

This hotel is made for weddings, it was what they do, they are excellent at it and they value your business. Sometimes we read online reviews of hotels and restaurants and wonder - how trustworthy are they? I am sure everyone says nice things about the hotel they got married in? Hand on heart this hotel exceeded our expectations. They are very upfront with prices, no hidden costs, the setting is unreal, the food is Michelin Star cuisine and the staff make you feel like you are an extension of their family and the Hotel is your home for those few magical days.

From the first day that we sat down to talk about possibly having our wedding in the Garryvoe, to our dinner tasting, the days before our wedding, our special day and sheltering us in Storm Orphelia – the Garryvoe and Stephen and the team really looked after us. The best of luck to Stephen and the team – they deserve every success.

We made the best the decision of our lives by deciding to get married on 14 October 2017. Our next best decision was to book the Garryvoe. Go for it you won’t regret it – we promise!
