We got married at Markree Castle in March 2014. From the time we booked in April 2013 right up until the wedding we could not have been happier with the service provided. We made our booking with Jeremy and he and every member of staff we encountered were brilliant, so accommodating and helpful yet easygoing - instead of adding to the pressure of wedding planning as so many hotels do with demands for deposits, final numbers etc, the staff at Markree took everything in their stride and quietly got things done! We put our trust in Jeremy, Simon and the others and we were proved right - everything turned out brilliantly on the day.
My bridesmaids and I stayed in Markree the night before the wedding. We had a beautiful meal and stayed in a lovely large room which easily accommodated myself, 3 bridesmaids, a hairdresser, beautician, videographer and 3 photographers (don't ask!) on the day. They even let us use other rooms for showers etc.
We had hired the chapel for the ceremony and on visits prior to the wedding we had been nervous that it would be cold and dark on the day. We were assured this would not be the case and on the day the chapel was cosy and comfortable, and created the perfect atmosphere to start proceedings. My one regret of the day is that I didn't taste the homemade punch served for the drinks reception as all the guests raved about it. Dinner was called and served on time, and was beautiful. Jeremy coordinated everything wonderfully from our entrance to the speeches after the meal. When we finished in the diningroom the dancefloor was all ready to go and we found the separate dancefloor and bar area added to the comfort and enjoyment of our guests. Evening food was served twice - 11pm and 1am - a genius idea from Jeremy! The bridal suite was gorgeous and comfortable and we didn't wake until breakfast arrived up at 12.
I'd like to specially mention Simon - his efficiency and sense of humour got us through any potentially stressful moments!
