Our wedding took place in Markree Castle on a sunny day in May 2014. We first visited Markree in January of 2014 and immediately felt welcomed by the roaring fire and the relaxed atmosphere in the Castle. The decision to have our civil ceremony in the Castle chapel was made very quickly.

We can’t say enough about Markree and the staff. The Castle itself is completely unique and its surroundings are stunning. We worked initially with Jeremy who guided us through the wedding packages and food options available and Simon who dealt with the finer details for the wedding. Both Simon and Jeremy were always a pleasure to deal with and quick to deal with our queries. No request was ever too much. The lead up to the wedding was a calm and stress free time thanks to Simon’s easy-going but highly organised manner.

On the day itself I got ready in the bridal suite which was a lovely start to the day. The day itself went 100% to plan, totally exceeding our expectations in every way. The chapel was beautiful, the dining room was amazing and the food was super. The service was lovely and our guests commented on the relaxed atmosphere of the occasion. Our friends and family loved staying in Markree; the novelty of having the entire Castle to yourself is very impressive! Other guests stayed in the Home Farm cottages and were looked after by the lovely Aimee. The staff looking after the bar and reception were always helpful and friendly.

We never thought that organising a wedding could be as easy and stress-free as it was. We loved everything single thing about Markree Castle and can’t wait to go back there.

Thank you.
