We were able to have our day the way we wanted and nothing was too much trouble for them. I feel the level of service from all the staff, the high standard of the hotel, and the quality of the food are unbeatable. Our guests are still telling us how amazing the hotel, the feed, and the craic were.

Rebecca (the wedding coordinators) were so accommodating and organised a Zoom call with us when we were trying to decide on a hotel. As soon as we had the call, we knew this would be the hotel we would be booking. Being a family-run business, it really stood out from the rest and we had no doubt in our minds that we were in great hands.
In the lead-up to the wedding, everyone was just so helpful towards us. We met with Alan the GM and he was just incredible. He had the warmest welcome to us, listened to exactly what we wanted but also offered us his professional advice on things we weren’t sure about. We left that day knowing our wedding day was going to be perfect.
On the day itself, we were absolutely blown away by the hospitality and attention to detail. Paddy, Alan, Raj and Warren could not do enough for us. Not only us but also our wedding guests, getting to know most of our immediate and extended family by name and making sure everyone was okay constantly throughout the day. We had so many people comment on this as things like this don’t go unnoticed. They really made everyone feel so welcome and comfortable.
Onto the main event - the meal. The food was just amazing!! When we did the menu tasting before the wedding, we knew that everybody on the day would love it. We had so many compliments about the meal. The service was so quick, there were no delays and the staff even went around with a second round of mains to all the tables.
We feel so incredibly lucky and grateful that we were able to have our wedding at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. We will never forget how special all the staff made us feel.

When you book your wedding with Shamrock Lodge Hotel, you’re booking an amazing, fun, and truly unforgettable day! It is true what all the reviews and awards say, nothing is too much trouble.

First, Mary, then Rebecca made everything so very easy for us, which is exactly what we needed because …

we live in Melbourne (Darragh is from Athlone). Aside from one Zoom call, everything was organized for us by way of email with quick responses and answers to my multitude of questions in great detail.

On the day of our wedding, the whole team looked after us and our guests so well and all our guests said they had a wonderful time. There were so many food options to choose from and everything we picked was delicious. We had potato and leek soup (all the guests said this was unreal), chicken & mushroom bouche and chorizo/black pudding, sirloin of beef and fillet of salmon, and the desert medley.

We had several guests come from Australia and other parts of the world who stayed at the lodge and said they had a wonderful stay, with again, nothing being too much trouble. Debbie in the Front Office team provided 5-star customer service, again mainly via email, organizing all of the required rooms for our international guests.

It was exactly the kind of relaxed and fun, yet also elegant and traditional wedding we were hoping for. The customer service at the lodge is second to none and this was further extended to us by some of the team members of the front office and housekeeping teams who generously offered to babysit our baby girl, my nieces, and my bridesmaid’s baby. Going above and beyond is an understatement. Thank you SLH!! Can’t wait to return when we’re next in Ireland.

The location was perfect for our German-Irish wedding with 190 guests with great outdoor drinks reception area, ballroom and comfortable accommodation. The location of the hotel suited our guests as it was a short walk to the town centre and the river Shannon.

Dealing with the staff here throughout the process was extremely pleasant and you can tell it is a great place to work from talking to some of the staff. Would have absolutely no reservations recommending the Shamrock Lodge to anyone for a wedding. If we had to do it all over again we’d do it here again.

- Staying on site the night before: Apartments onsite meant bridal party were able to get ready in the morning while staying separate to the hotel and the groom and his groomsmen. The handiness of staying on site, I can't recommend it enough particularly in Ireland where there's uncertainty about weather conditions.
- If all our guests stayed on site (which they nearly all did) it becomes an exclusive wedding venue without paying the exclusive price.
-We tried the food many times on the lead up to the day and there was always fab and big portions. They came out with second helpings of meat at the meal on the day and all the guests were so impressed by the food.
- Function room has a bar in it: Nice size that suits both small and big numbers. Depending on numbers the band can also set up before the meal finishes, keeping your guests in the function room and together.
- Not in the town but close enough to walk to the pubs: Live band was playing in Sean's bar on the Friday night before our wedding and our guests who came down the night before loved it.
A special thank you to the staff (particularly Alan, Mary, Rebecca, Debbie) who made the wedding so easy and enjoyable to plan. So many of our guests kept coming up to me on the day complimenting the staff. The only complaint I got was that 'maybe there was a bit too much food'. I felt like anything I asked for I got. I look forward to our next visit and having that chicken vol au vent again.

We instantly felt a sense of family homely warm vibes. Nothing was a problem, anything we wanted to know about, whether it be about entertainment to table signs to food, it was answered straight away, and everything was facilitated for. From the entrance we received on our wedding day, to the gorgeous Shamrock Lodge grounds, to the ballroom, to the unbelievable food. (And so much food :) :) ). To the accommodation, it was simply magical. We and our guests felt right at home on the day of our wedding. Alan and his team went above and beyond for us. It's a day & night we will never forget. Our family and friends are still complimenting the delicious food and the excellent service that was provided on the day. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to hold our special day. From the initial wedding booking right up to when we checked out the day after the wedding, Mary, Jason, Paddy and the rest of the staff at the Lodge looked after us impeccably. personalizing the room with our own decorations and nothing was too much trouble. We had a few guests with special dietary requirements (diabetic, vegetarian etc.) and they were well looked after on the day in terms of food and drink as were all of our other guests. The day itself ran so smoothly and stress free due to the efforts of Mary, Jason and the entire staff. They never stopped all day ensuring that everything was perfect.

The hotel was spotless clean, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the staff were so welcoming and the food (and portion sizes!) was absolutely out of this world. Their grounds make the absolute perfect backdrop for your wedding photos and we didn't even need to go off site to get them. The gardens and surroundings are so well kept and our photos came out beautiful because of this. Our guests are still raving about the whole day and have said it was the best wedding they've been to. We'd highly recommend booking your wedding here, you won't be disappointed. This was our third wedding date due to the pandemic and throughout the rescheduling process and uncertainty, Mary couldn't have been more helpful or understanding. They really take their slogan of "Let our family look after yours" so seriously and execute it perfectly.

Their patience and understanding of the situation we were in as restrictions were imposed, and we were unsure if we would proceed with the wedding as planned, was of great reassurance to us. They never once put us under pressure and indeed our table plans were changing right up until the week of the wedding. Again this was no problem. As a couple, this was the most important factor for us in dealing with the hotel. There was no problem to big or too small and they accommodated us with every request.
On the day the service from the staff was top class, and the food was exceptional. The beautiful gardens are a perfect backdrop for photos of the day as well. The room was beautifully decorated for the day, and we were delighted with how the wedding went. All present had a great night and were highly complimentary of the hotel.

with everything leading up to the wedding. From the moment we met with the coordinator when we were viewing the hotel, we knew that we had found the perfect place. The welcoming atmosphere and the bubbly personalities that we met walking through the door just captured our attention and instantly put smiles on our faces. You can really tell that it is a family run hotel, as all the staff really come together and present as a strong, caring family unit.

Warren and Mary worked tremendously hard behind the scenes and on the weekend of our wedding. There was no question too big or too small. There is usually a lot of stress around wedding planning, but Mary took all that stress away and replaced it with fun and laughter. You feel very much at ease planning your wedding with the coordinators. There was fantastic attention to detail from service, to food, to décor and function room layout. The hotel team was always so attentive and ‘on the ball’. The food was exquisite and is something so many of our guests raved about after the wedding. The private garden beside the function room is the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. There was a lovely flow to the day from drinks, to the reception, to photos and meal, to first dance. Everything ran perfectly smoothly and that is due to the exceptional organization and work carried out by the Shamrock Lodge team.

The team at Shamrock Lodge couldn't possibly do any more for us. They went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was the most magical day for us. They welcomed any ideas that we had in mind and were incredibly accommodating. If we were to do it all again, we definitely would pick the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.

Everyone in the hotel from Nicola on reception to Warren and Paddy, all worked quietly in the background to ensure we had a perfect day. We were planning our wedding while restrictions were gradually being eased, so this resulted in some uncertainty and challenges with our planning. However this never caused us concern because Alan constantly worked with us, to ensure we had the wedding day we always wanted. Alan also made some very helpful suggestions, regarding slight amendments we could make, in order to ensure we got the most out of our day. We are so glad we listened to his advice as those small changes really enhanced our day.

From speaking with our guests, they all mentioned how great the food was. All our tables were served quickly and well timed together. The food was beautifully cooked and it was noted by several of our guests that it was hot and fresh when it arrived to the table.

We had very high expectations on what we wanted from our wedding reception and we can honestly say that the Shamrock Lodge hotel surpassed them. We also liked the fact that they really valued our business, we understand they have several weddings every month, but they truly made us feel as if our wedding was their priority. They are experts in the area of wedding receptions and they have not become complacent despite all the success they have in this area.

Finally when our wedding was over and we returned to the hotel a few weeks later to dine in their restaurant, Nicola, Alan, Paddy and Warren all took the time to stop and speak with us and gave us a lovely welcome and high level of service. Alan & all the staff were brilliant, so lovely to work with, really accommodating and helpful. At the time restrictions were rift throughout Ireland and Alan was a calming influence in a chaotic time. We were in touch with Alan throughout our planning process and he was amazing - so down to earth and approachable, made things easy through his knowledge, experience and fantastic personality. He kept us from losing the plot, at the same time giving us great options and ideas

The venue itself was set beautifully and everything we had asked for was catered to, we even had a Piper playing us down the aisle. The grounds of the venue are scenic and perfect for your photos.

The food - oh, the food! The food was five stars, it was tasty, hot and plentiful, all our guests raved about it afterwards. The service was prompt and attentive & friendly

All the staff – from reception, wait, housekeeping and bar staff were amazing and genuine in making this a day to remember even in midst of a pandemic! Without the wonderful staff our day wouldn’t be possible – So thank you!

having attended a few weddings here as guests and thoroughly enjoying every one of them. Planning a wedding can be a daunting prospect but we have to say our whole experience in dealing with the management and staff was a pleasure. Nothing was a problem for them to organize. Their help and assistance in ensuring all of our requirements were met were second to none. Also their attention to detail was fantastic.

The whole process from the start - an evening chat with Paddy, to the meetings we had with Mary, who was exceptional in her assistance with the whole planning process, to Alan and the team who looked after us and our guests on the big day - to the finish was flawless. The management and staff could not have done any more to make our wedding day such a memorable and enjoyable experience.

The incredible work that the staff had done in each of the rooms we used during our day was a credit to their dedication on making sure that our day was very special not only for us but also for them. From the room in which our marriage ceremony took place, to the reception room and on to the dining room, we appreciated how much they cared as the decor in each room was done beautifully. It is quite simply a fantastic venue and our day could not have gone any better.

Paddy. I even broke their poor hearts over changing the table plan few times - we had 256 people sitting for dinner. And Warren was great organising that for us. The food was excellent, piping hot when it came out. They were always on the other end of the phone if anything needed to be asked. We had a civil ceremony in the hotel and that too was organised very well. They all make you feel like as if you were family. It is such a nice homely and welcoming hotel. All my guests were saying after the wedding that it was so relaxing and personal for a wedding. When I arrived to the hotel, I was very nervous. Warren and Alan were at the door waiting for me to arrive. I needed to use the bathroom and had to take off my train on the back of my dress. Alan and Warren were such gents that when I came out of bathroom with my bridesmaid the two lads put on my train and had us all in knots laughing - they were just amazing at the way they cooled my nerves. My Photographer even got a picture and it actually is lovely to have. Also on the day Mary Glynn who just went beyond her way to make sure everything was perfect. Mary the wedding co-ordinator was excellent at taking any of our requests for the day and planned everything meticulously. We also want to thank Paddy for having an amazing venue and all was very presentable and the gardens were kept very well and tidy. They were very helpful and courteous and always made sure that any requests were seen to. When we went to visit Shamrock Lodge, their brochure and website said 'Let our family take care of yours'. After hearing a lot of similar promises from other venues, we didn't realise how true to life that would become for us by choosing this venue.

We were looking for a venue that had enough …

rooms to suit our wedding in the middle of the country as everyone was travelling to it. From the very first viewing, through to planning the wedding from Northern Ireland, the evening before the wedding, organising suppliers and the big day itself, nothing was left to chance, every detail was thought about and while we are at the centre of everything, the staff and owners at Shamrock Lodge had it all under control.

When we came down from Northern Ireland to look at venues, to be completely honest, we just visited Shamrock Lodge as we were in the area. We met with the lovely Mary and felt that we were genuinely welcomed as opposed to being just another wedding viewing. When we left that day, we had no doubt in our minds that we would be getting married at Shamrock Lodge and we would entrust the most important day of our lives to their capable hands.

We felt like we should have invited Alan, Paddy and Mary to our wedding, as they became like friends in the run up to the big day thinking of little things that we hadn't thought about. Our guests loved the accommodation (hotel and apartments) and friendly staff. For our food options, we wanted something that wasn't on the menu for our starter and it wasn't even the slightest issue when we asked for it.

I'm sure lots of brides and grooms will say the same of the venue they chose but I would urge anyone who is considering holding their wedding here to take the plunge and do it. They are some of the nicest people we have ever met and while we might seem to be gushing a little, it is totally justified - having your day at Shamrock Lodge will make it a day that you will never forget for all the right reasons.

with complimentary piper and staff made sure to guide us in under the shelter of umbrellas. Our guests really enjoyed the suite with bar solely for wedding party. The food was 5 star, it was tasty, hot and plentiful, all our guests commented on the excellence of the food. The service was prompt and attentive. The gardens were perfect for our photos once the rain had died off. The use of the card letter box was extremley helpful and safe this put us at ease. The next day they had gathered all of our belongings for ease on check out. Not just a catchy marketing slogan, but from the minute you meet with Paddy, Alan or the team at the Shamrock Lodge you feel like you are part of the family.

My parents and sister all held their wedding receptions at the Shamrock Lodge so there was never any …

doubt in our minds as to which venue we would look at first, and from that first coffee with Alan we knew we could trust him to look after us on our wedding day.

From a relaxing lunch in the bar the day before the wedding where Paddy comfortably assured us that everything was in hand for us the following day - while simultaneously entertaining An Taoiseach at the Launch of the Flood Risk Management Plans which was happening that day in the hotel and with RTE buzzing about, we never felt like the team were overstretched or that we were of a lesser priority to all of the high profile guests in the hotel that day.

To the day itself when the team thought of EVERYTHING - putting up our decorations, teas, coffees and nerve calming beverages sent to the grooms room and welcoming all of our out of town guests - some of whom were so impressed with everything have been back since to enjoy another stay, the whole day was seamless and we never once had to check up on anything allowing us to really enjoy our day.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Shamrock Lodge to any couple for their big day!

On the day of the wedding, we didn't have to think about anything related to the reception as the team at the hotel had everything covered! You could see everything was being looked after and that really was a great comfort, so we could enjoy our reception. They were all so professional but also provided that personal touch. Our wedding guests loved the menu and the food was just perfect.

We highly recommend the Shamrock Lodge Hotel for your wedding venue. It's clear to see why it's such a popular hotel for weddings.

The gardens are so pretty with a tree lined driveway perfect for photos. The reception room is so beautiful and romantic with soft lighting, floral or various candle centrepieces and the big bows on the chair covers which I haven't seen any where else add a little extra to that sauve and romantic feeling. The dinner I could not fault and is very generous as is the evening buffet. The bar staff were also lovely, well mannered and very good humoured engaging with all our guests. There is ample parking for all gueats and we liked the fact that it felt like our own private hotel with nothing to interupt our celebrations. From all the hotels we viewed The Shamrock Lodge stood out a mile. Well done and thank you to Paddy, Alan and all the staff.

mile to look after us. In our opinion it is the best place to have our big day and we wouldn't change a bit of it. It's located in the centre of Ireland which meant that there wasn't too much time for our guests to travel. The weather on the day was fantastic. We had been talking to Alan and Paddy on the days leading up to the wedding and they suggested that we have the civil ceremony outside! Our family and friends were saying how good the weather was and the Shamrock Lodge were excellent to take advantage of the great weather. I had been there before for other weddings and I knew that we could rely on the food. They matched our high expectations and as always the food was top notch. They catered for all the guests for the dinner. We cannot thank them all enough for making our day so special. We will be forever grateful to all the staff. For other couples to choose the Shamrock Lodge for their wedding reception, it would be a no-brainer. were talking and they decided that it was about time. George decided that he was going to plan the wedding in secret and surprise me!! That surprise lasted until we were at Lisbon Airport on our way back to Bahrain when in his excitement he let the cat out of the bag. Anyone who knows George will not be surprised by that. Anyway, the wedding planning was, of course, passed on to me! We decided on the Shamrock Lodge as our venue because my late parents had held their reception there in 1957. A few years ago I had made contact with Mary Glynn with a query about my Mum and Dad's wedding breakfast menu and we exchanged quite a few messages and photos at the time. She was delightful in her enthusiasm and willingness to spare the time to chat to a complete stranger about an event that happened 50 years ago. Once George and I had decided to marry I contacted Mary again and from that moment to the day of our wedding on the 20th of September 2018 she could not have been more helpful. We arrived in Ireland on the 8th of September 12 days before our big day. We met Mary and the team a few days later for the first time. As expected they were all so warm and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our day special. The venue was so intimate and special and looked beautiful. The ceremony was perfect for us. They helped my brother Brian to organize the music and all of the music we had chosen sounded perfect on the day. The Piper was a wonderful touch. The food was lovely and endless throughout the day. The service was excellent and we were made to feel so special. The bridal suite was lovely and the 2 complimentary rooms much appreciated. Thank you all for a brilliant day.

Having planned our wedding while living in the UK, Alan and all the staff were nothing but accommodating to us and anything we wanted or needed was provided no problem. The day before our wedding, Steven and our guests and family from Scotland received an extremely warm welcome and were made to feel at home. On the day of our wedding, both Steven and I and all of our guests (both Ireland and Scotland) were treated so well that people still speak about it today. Our meal was fantastic with more than enough food being served. The service from the staff was impeccable and they couldn't do enough for us. Extremely friendly staff both at front of house, in the bars, reception staff as well as accommodation staff all helped to make our time there memorable for all the right reasons. Both Paddy and Alan run a top notch service while making it so comfortable that it feels like you're part of the family. Our wedding coordinator Mary also couldn't do enough for us and for that we will always be grateful. But we always say that you can always tell if it was a good day by the way people keep speaking about it for a long time after - and our guests still do that. So Paddy, Mary, all the staff and especially Alan, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our day a day to remember.

The food was delicious and all ours guests enjoyed the meal and there was no one left hungry as the food kept coming. The bar was open until late and no one was rushing us out after closing. The next day on check out even with another wedding taking place Alan still ensured to make sure to see us and make sure we were happy checking out. We had drinks and dinner before we left that day and everything was divine. I have no regrets for picking this hotel and will be using it going forward for any family events. Its a lovely clean family run hotel and the only thing that's on the agenda for them is to make sure that their couple/guests are happy. When I first started looking for a venue for the wedding I read the venue reviews. Of course they were all very positive but what stood out for us was the fact that the Lodge was portrayed as a family run and nothing would be too much trouble ethos.

was vital that I worked with an organised wedding planner and Mary was just that.

We stayed at and visited other hotels, however although pleasant, modern and a bit corporate the friendly feel with every request being met, meant that the Shamrock Lodge could not be beaten.

The Lodge gave us the personal touch and all our guests were blown away by the superior service that they received, the amazing food and huge rooms. Some of the guests are planning a return visit.

The John Broderick suite is such a fantastic setting. The country garden surrounding the suite was manicured to perfection and it really enhanced our wedding theme. We were thrilled with how well it turned out on the day.
We would like to compliment the entire staff and management at the Shamrock lodge. Throughout the day and night they were all so accommodating and friendly to us and our guests.

Mary who we planned our day with was exceptional. It is rare to meet someone who goes above and beyond what is expected to the extent she did. This is someone who is professional, patient, considerate, kind and does things with such a good heart. No request was too big or small. She made us feel more than special. Everything was just perfect. Ye made sure that our day went so smooth. The detail that was provided was second to none. Even the minor detail was just as important as the big things. There really was no stone left unturned. The meal we had was just fantastic. I heard no one complaining and believe me I had some fussy ppl at the wedding. Having my wedding at this hotel, everybody went way above what we expected to make sure that we were treated like royalty.
This is a family run hotel and they make you feel like just like the family. Anybody thinking of having their wedding in this hotel, trust me but ye won't be disappointed. The only fault I could have was that my wedding day went just so quick and that was because we didn't have to worry about a thing. (So it's not a fault). Even my guests were saying how good the service at this hotel. From the day we booked our wedding here we never had to worry about a thing. Everything was looked after from start to finish. was decorated beyond our expectations when we arrived and I have to admit a wow factor when we saw how the Ballroom was prepared and presented for our reception. The food which was served was of 5 star quality, and substantial amounts of it, and it was commented to us on the day by our guests and indeed many times since how delicious it was and indeed how it was presented. The attention to detail by staff on the day was noted by all but it would be remiss of me not to mention the duty manager of the day, Warren Samuels, for his professionalism and courteous nature shown to us and our guests. Any request we had on the day was dealt with immediately and without any fuss.

All in all we cannot thank and praise The Shamrock Lodge Hotel, and their wonderful staff, for assisting us in making our wedding day so memorable.

but personal service which was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. There is nothing that we asked for that Alan didn't make happen for us and he went above and beyond what we had expected. He is also a very warm and easygoing guy while at the same time you know that he is reliable and has it all covered . The hotel looked amazing on the day, the food was beautiful and the staff were all so good. There is such a good team in the Shamrock Lodge that all played a big part in making our day so special to us, our Family and Friends. Overall, our whole experience from our first meeting with Alan, the whole way through until our big day, and even throughout our big day, was brilliant. Alan is a real hands on manager and we appreciated him checking in with us throughout our day making sure we were happy with everything.

We got married in the lovely Shamrock Lodge on the 23rd of April this year. We had heard rave reviews from some friends that got married there and from the minute we spoke to Alan, the manager, and looked around with him, we could see why it was so popular. We had also both been to a lot of weddings …

here and the food and atmosphere was always lovely.

From the get go Alan, Paddy, Mary and the team were so good to deal with. Nothing was too big a request or too silly a question. At our meal tasting we got enough food to feed a small army and Alan was so open to any of our suggestions.

On the day itself we had a ball. The food was great, everyone was raving about it. We got a lot of comments from people saying they felt it was very relaxed and the hotel was very homely. We were so delighted that people had a great time and that feedback was positive.

The barmen were also very obliging to us late into the night and we all had a blast, no one moved us out of the ballroom and they let us continue on with our sing song with no hassle.

We had a lot of guests stay over the second night and again the hotel was so good and they really looked after us on the second night too.

Overall we are so delighted that we picked the Shamrock Lodge in Athlone. We are in a town packed with hotels and venues for weddings but I would have no hesitation in recommending here as it is family owned and run, the staff are so good to deal with and we had an amazing day.

met. From doing up our dinner list to sampling it their wasn't one fault. They tried to meet our budget as much as we tried to make sure they were happy too. As for the food itself everyone has complemented us on the choice but their is no way we could have done it if it wasn't for the staff of the lodge. They were the ones who cooked it to serving it so we know we couldn't have had a good experience without them.

notch, everyone we dealt with was friendly, helpful and down to earth.
From the very first meeting with Alan, the Manager, we were made to feel welcome and that nothing would be a problem with planning the wedding. We live in Australia but even this huge distance was no problem as we had numerous calls and emails with Alan to keep us up to date with anything we needed to do. Nothing we asked for was an issue, they really are professional and make the whole wedding venue planning process actually easy and fun!

We, our families and guests had a fantastic weekend, we honestly cannot fault anything , we had so
many compliments about the food and service, everyone went above and beyond to make sure we
were looked after perfectly. Alan was personally there for the whole wedding day to make sure we were happy and that everything was running smoothly.
The hotel has been newly renovated and all of our overseas guests were very impressed with the
rooms. We also took advantage of the lovely gardens and different areas of the hotel for our
photographs on the day.
Our whole wedding experience was amazing thanks in a large part to the Shamrock Hotel, we are really looking forward to going to my sisters wedding there next year.
