Ghan House is an 18th century Georgian house set in private, walled grounds and is available for Exclusive Use. Up to 54 guests or 34 on one long table in the Drawing Room overlooking Carlingford Lough. The separate ballroom has wall to wall maple dance floor. For smaller intimate weddings where dancing/evening guests/Civil Ceremony is not required - Private Dining is possible - for up to 30 guests. Civil Ceremonies can be held in Ghan House in front of the log fire or the adjacent Heritage Centre. Guests can enjoy an outdoor champagne reception in private walled grounds with views of Slieve Foy & the Mourne mountains - with log fires and candlelight awaiting inside. 1 hour from Dublin & Belfast and just a tree length from Medieval Carlingford.

Ghan House in Medieval Carlingford is an eighteenth century Georgian country house set within walled grounds where exclusive use of the whole house and grounds makes for an ideal Wedding & Civil Ceremony venue.

Ghan House is available for exclusive use for your wedding - the whole house & gardens ~ which means, no other guests apart from your own!

We have beautiful views of Slieve Foy, the Mountains of Mourne & Carlingford Lough - from the gardens, all the public rooms & 4* bedrooms. In addition we have 8 ft high stone walls enclosing the gardens, adding to the privacy & uniqueness.

Our head chef Stephane was awarded 2 AA Rosettes for the restaurant and has maintained them since 2011. In addition Ghan House was the all Ireland winner of the AA 'Guest Accommodation of the Year 2020'.

The bedrooms have been selected by John & Sally McKenna's 'Best 100 Places to stay in Ireland' every year since 1998.

The Ghan House alternative to the big hotel function room makes for a very intimate and sociable wedding where food is just as important as the venue!

Eco economy - All of the bedrooms at Ghan House - their heating & hot water are powered by 2 air source heat pumps. The water from the roof of the main house feed into the pond. KG of CO2 has been reduced by 61% 2017 v 2024. Kitchen waste is utilised to make compost, plastic, paper, card & glass are all recycled as is kitchen oil. The kitchen is 100% induction. From Paul, owner of Ghan House who was always so open and considerate, and manager Sarah, who was extraordinary in her grasp of details, estimating with unerring accuracy what we would need, and budgeting advice with obvious experience of people's menu choices at times of the year and all the staff for their professionalism, we are so grateful.

Our special day was indeed special and so much more! The food served to our guests was without fail exceptional. Everyone was very happy.

The surroundings and attention to detail, and presentation of Ghan House was superb.

Our Harpist, Mongolian Morin Khuur musician (who were inspired to play duets together they enjoyed their surroundings so much), DJ, photographer and Videographer were also very happy to be involved with our special day at Ghan House.

Me & my husband married here in December 2019 & I don't even know where to begin reccomendeding this amazing venue and team!

Nothing was too much trouble, I dealt with Sarah most and she was just incredibly helpful & always on hand to answer my (sometimes stupid) questions.

We are from the UK …

and Sarah made the planning so easy for us & even mananged to help with a last minute transport issue I had!

The venue is self is stunning, way more beautiful in real life, the bedroom was perfect & so was the food. All our guests were really impressed!

A special thankyou to Paul who mananged to help us with getting our marriage certificate back in one piece too!

Sarah, Paul, Orla & the whole team went above and beyond for us in every way possible, I wish I could do it all over again! We can't put into words just how greatful we are for making sure our day was magical - from the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!

extremely stressful at times but the professionalism and courteous manner of the staff certainly eased any doubts or stress. The beauty of the venue and location was on par with the amazing food- a delight to look at and a delight to eat.
We personally had a great day celebrating our wedding surrounded by friends and family and Ghan House played an integral role in this. Everyone seemed to be having a great day enjoying the celebration either walking in the lovely walled gardens/grounds or lounging and relaxing in the beautiful venue itself.. The weather only added to the picture perfect memory.
Definitely a beautiful wedding venue, highly recommended.
